Description
Do you want a fun and engaging activity to teach, review and practice sight words?
Fall is here and we begin to teach and review sight words! Sight word scoot is a great activity that will keep students engaged and learning.
This resource makes reviewing, practicing and sharpening sight word skills so much fun!!!
If you have never played scoot before there are instructions in the resource along with answer keys. It is a SUPER simple, NO PREP, and easy to differentiate. In this version of scoot, students will use a code to decode sight words from Dolch sight word lists.
This resource includes four scoot games – one for each Dolch sight word list.
- Pre-primer
- Primer
- Grade 1
- Grade 2
Each game contains:
- A student recording sheet with the key to crack the code
- 24 scoot task cards coded with sight words
- An answer key
- Instructions
That’s a total of 96 game cards!!!
I like the simplicity of this game, the quick set up, the ease of use and how much the students learn while playing it. I find it is a GREAT resource to leave for a substitute teacher or to fill in time if you find an activity ends early and you have 5-10 minutes before a bell!
BEST YET you can change up how you use this game! You could:
- “hide” the task cards around the room for students to locate and answer
- use them as an independent activity for fast finishers or for extra practice
- use them as task cards
- use them in your center rotations
- use them as flashcards to play in partners
The possibilities and fun are endless with this game! I hope your class enjoys it as much as mine!
