You have probably found and are reading this post because you want to know how to make printable post-it notes and learn how to customize post-it notes for your needs. You have come to the right place! I want to start off this post with the following disclaimer:
I am an office supply nerd. It’s ok. I admit it. I own it. Shopping in an office supply store, for me, is what I imagine shopping in a hardware store is for construction workers. Utopia. I LOVE the smell of a new box of crayons, a good sharpie marker or a box of erasers. Always have. I can spend hours touring the aisles of my local office supply store finding things “I NEED”. And please, please host an intervention if you see me on Amazon. Don’t get me started….. (you know how you can ban yourself from a casino when you know you have a gambling addiction….. Amazon needs to provide this service for me in the office supply section)
I love post-it notes. LOVE them. For many reasons – the short list being this:
- the smell
- the colours
- the versatility
- the ease of use
- the flexibility they provide
- AND NOW…. I have learned to customize and print on them. Mind blown!
Post-it notes come in a variety of sizes. Did you know you can make custom post it notes?!!! I have customized the four most common sizes I use:
1. The 4″ x 6″ note post it.
This post-it note is GREAT for making lists. As a teacher, I am juggling a million things in my mind on any given day. I also have seven children on top of my class so I forget a lot. I write things down and make lists constantly. I have made the template for this post-it note with boxes so I can check off when things are done. Here is one of my templates in action:
2. The standard 3″ x 3″ post-it note
This post-it note is good for small lists and notes. I like the variety of colours so if I am making reading groups I can colour code my groups. Sometimes I need to make lists that may not be long enough for the 4″ x 6″ post it so I have created this template with (and without) lines. I have templates for a variety of Teachers Pay Teachers “jobs” like scheduling social media, product creation, goals, blog posts and pins to make. I have also included more generic templates for things like books to read, things to buy, from the desk of (and you can put in your name) to list a few. Again, the possibilities are endless.
3. The small square 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ post-it
This cute itty-bitty square is my goto bookmark! But it can be so much more. This post-it is the one I LOVE to customize with fun clipart. They are good as reminders for students leaving early, a difference in dismissal routine, a quick note to the principal, secretary or grade partner. I use these to print special encouraging notes to my students and leave them on their desks.
4. Lastly, I use the small rectangle 1 7/8″x 1 3/8″ post-it.
This little gem is great for placing time reminders, special dates, coffee orders 😉 or name cards for students. Again, this is just what I use them for and it is not a comprehensive list because I have used these to label my food in the fridge at school – but do I want to admit my “nerdery”? Heck no, that secret will go with me to my grave….. shhhhhh
I have created an entire product line and have it for sale in my Teachers Pay Teachers store.
